Oh dear, Adam Trimingham has really shown himself up this time.

Of the 25 "legends" of Sussex, he has nominated (The Argus, August 1), 24 are men and only one is a woman. And just one woman smacks of tokenism.

For every Lawrence Olivier, there is a Jean Plowright. For every Rudyard Kipling, there is a Virginia Woolf. For every Steve Ovett, there is a Sally Gunnell.

Why was there no place on his list for these legendary woman, or for Vanessa Bell, Dorothy Stringer, Selma Montford, Dr Helen Boyle, Lady Chichester, Kitty O'Shea, Margaret Hardy, Faith Matyszak or Mary Clarke?

Come on, Adam, you can do better than that.
