Like most people, I was saddened and angry about the BBC Panorama programme which featured the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

However, like Christine Allen (Letters, August 4), I am really upset that when these programmes are screened all carers are tarred with the same brush.

As soon as I tell people what I do for a living, I have the feeling that they are comparing me with those few bad apples in my profession.

I came into care work about ten years ago and I love my job and the people I meet.

Yes, it is hard and sometimes we work under a lot of pressure but I would never speak to or treat my patients in the way that was portrayed in the programme. I hope my colleagues would report anyone of our team who did so straight away.

It's a pity Panorama can't make a programme on the positive side and show all our satisfied service users.

Some of the people we visit really appreciate us coming in and helping them and would be only too happy to let the media know about the care we give them and their families.

But to all those sceptics out there, you can be sure that if the likes of myself or Christine Allen go to care for them, they will be well looked after.
