I read a few days ago of your efforts to reveal the identities of cafes and restaurants in this so-called city which are not complying with health and hygiene regulations.

Brighton and Hove City Council says it is not in the public interest to divulge these premises.

I think, and I am sure there are many others who agree, it is very much in the public interest.

The council should do this for the sake of our health and the premises concerned should lose their licences.

First the hospitals and now this - we have been in a terrible state ever since we became a city.

I could have left Brighton 20 years ago when I retired but, having received excellent care at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, the Eye Hospital and Brighton General over the years, I refused to go as I had such faith in them.

But since the BBC Panorama programme, my views have changed a lot and I dread the possibility of having to end my days in such an environment.

Now we read that we can go into any premises serving food and not be sure if it is complying with health regulations.

Keep up the good work and demand to have these premises named.

It is in our interest and most necessary. Quite apart from any prejudice to ongoing cases - they have asked for it.

We, the public, should come first for a change.
