The head of the Government regeneration organisation eb4u is likely to face more questions from a panel of councillors examining its work.

Graham Maunders, the eb4u project director, gave evidence at a Brighton and Hove City Council scrutiny panel at its first hearing in a series examining eb4u's work.

The organisation is half way through a ten-year programme to regenerate East Brighton with a pot of £47.2 million.

The panel of five councillors was set up after growing concerns from members of the public about the way in which the money was being spent in the community.

It has taken evidence from members of eb4u and the public.

Some of the meetings were held in public and some evidence was given in closed sessions. That evidence is now being examined.

Although most of the evidence has been gathered, the panel is expecting to take more evidence from Mr Maunders and former council chief executive Glynn Jones.

The report is expected to be presented to the council's overview and scrutiny organisation committee on November 14, then to the policy and resources committee.

The panel expect to hear from Mr Maunders on September 16.

The final report will be made public.
