I find it hard to believe residents of Lewes and Falmer are willing to watch their local councils spend more than £2 million to pursue a judicial review of the Falmer stadium decision.

This money can only be found from increased council taxes, which are already forecast to rise by ten per cent next year.

The stadium has offended a small but vociferous group of locals. How much influence has this tiny group got within these two councils?

The decision to pursue the appeal only makes good financial sense for the solicitors involved.

For other residents, it means they will have to stump up more cash to pursue the whims of an influential minority. Voting residents should call time on this appeal now.
