Eastbourne Borough will go out with all guns blazing in their FA Cup first round replay at Oxford United tonight.

Borough boss Garry Wilson is considering employing a three-pronged strike force in a bid to turn up the heat on an Oxford side low on confidence.

The Us crashed to their heaviest defeat since they moved into the Kassam Stadium five years ago when they lost 3-0 to Wrexham in League Two on Saturday.

The result increased the pressure on Brian Talbot's side who have now gone six games without a win and have scored just three goals in their last eight outings.

Wilson hopes to capitalise on their vulnerability by ditching the 4-4-2 formation which earned Borough a 1-1 draw in the first tie at Priory Lane ten days ago.

Instead he is toying with the idea of playing Scott Ramsay, Dan Marney and Yemi Odubade in a win-or-bust gamble in front of a crowd of about 4,000 at the Kassam Stadium tonight.

Wilson said: "I don't think either team is playing with any confidence at the moment so I think a lot will depend on who scores the first goal.

"Our away form has been dreadful this season so it might be time to try something different. That could mean playing three up front but we will have to wait and see.

"In a way the pressure is off us a bit because we have already done better than a lot of people expected by taking them to a replay. Hopefully we can relax and enjoy the occasion."

Despite their Cup run Borough hardly go into the match on the crest of a wave after suffering their fourth defeat in five Conference south matches at Havant and Waterlooville on Saturday.

Wilson knows they must recreate the kind of performance which saw them unsettle Oxford in the first tie rather than their disappointing league form if they are to stand any chance of booking a second round trip to Cheltenham.

"We have not been playing well in the league for some time now but the Cup seems to have brought the best out of us this season," said Wilson.

"Sometimes in the Cup you only get one bite of the cherry and maybe we had our chance of causing an upset in the first match. It will be a totally different game tonight because they are at home and will be fired up after some poor results.

"They will be expected to win but if we show the same kind of workrate as we did in the first game then I think we have still got a chance."

Borough will leave it late to decide whether to risk Phil Warner after the defender missed Saturday's match at Havant with an injured knee but Andy Atkin and Ollie Rowland have shaken off knocks.

Ben Austin is rated only 50-50 after injuring an ankle in training.

Talbot is expected to name an unchanged side to the one which drew at Priory Lane, although midfielder Chris Hackett is challenging for a place after returning from injury.

The Oxford boss knows there will be calls for his head if they go out tonight and has warned his side against complacency.

"If we think it was difficult against Eastbourne last Saturday it is going to be just as difficult tonight," said Talbot. "Our tails are between our legs at the moment and we have got to produce a performance with more energy."
