I found Tony Mernagh's article in The Argus yesterday fascinating but it left me wondering whether he has ever visited Prague.

My wife and I spent two nights there earlier this year and so enjoyed it, we are going again for three nights later in the year.

The people were friendly, helpful and happy, despite the different language.

The clean trams were efficient and many ran throughout the night.

The streets were clean, there were no beggars or yobs roaming them and we had no fear of being involved in a disturbance.

Compare that with my occasional forays into Brighton, where the streets are littered with the days' rubbish, there are beggars and many shop staff are generally, shall we say, less than helpful.

There is no competition between the two cities.

As far as I am concerned, it is well worth the inconvenience and time in getting to and from the airport to go to a place where one feels happy and returns eager to go back out again.
