I object to the King Alfred scheme for the following reasons: The sheer scale of it will dominate the seafront, creating an eyesore and making it something not in keeping with the scale and design of the buildings nearby.
This is predominantly a conservation area, where as much of the original character as possible is preserved. How can this monstrosity claim to do that?
It will obstruct light and the views of neighbouring properties.
The 754 residential units will impact on an already overpopulated area, where there continue to be parking problems.
While I agree the King Alfred needs updating and possibly extending, I can't agree to this increased level of housing.
