Strictly Ballroom Dancing brings the magic of the popular television show to the stage. It is like stepping back into a Thirties extravaganza with soft lighting, glitzy outfits and powerful blues-style singers.

And of course there are the dancers - fourteen international dance champions take the stage in a blaze of sequinned outfits, taut bodies and slick dance moves.

The show is presented by entertainment stalwarts Lionel Blair and Jane McDonald who were both brilliant.

McDonald in particular is the highly amusing glue which holds the show together and Blair gives some great tap-dancing and song performances.

The dancers themselves are poised and elegant as they expertly take the audience through a medley of dance styles including the samba, the rumba, the waltz, the cha cha and the foxtrot.

The tango is filled with passion with bare-chested men and angry, exotic women, set in a scene reminiscent of a Buenos Aires bar.

And the pass doble is equally sensual with the dancers in a frothy combination of blue and gold, looking like Spanish matadors and senoritas. The set is a slight let-down but is a fabulous display of raw dance talent, passion and dedication.

Showing until Saturday. Call 08700 606650 for more information and tickets.
