Yemi Odubade has been tipped to be a star of the future in the professional game after a stunning performance in the FA Cup last night.

The striker was in sensational form as Eastbourne Borough gave Oxford United a real fright before going down 3-0 at the Kassam Stadium.

Steve Basham's hat-trick ended Borough's dreams of a second round trip to Cheltenham Town but it was Odubade who received all the plaudits after a pulsating match.

Oxford boss Brian Talbot said: "He is quick, strong and lively. The only thing he didn't do tonight was score.

"If he plays like that week in week out then there is no doubt he has got a chance of playing in the League one day."

Odubade caught Talbot's eye when he came off the bench in the first tie and earned Borough the penalty which forced the replay.

He got the nod ahead of Danny Marney last night and repaid manager Garry Wilson by terrorising the Oxford defence.

Wilson said: "I thought Yemi was outstanding and deserved a goal. He is one for the future and if he keeps playing like that, he will get a move to a League club."

Basham, who scored in the 20th, 45th and 90th minutes to knock Borough out, also praised the former Yeovil Town striker.

He said: "I think he can play at a higher level without a shadow of a doubt. He will cause problems for any defence in the League."
