We find the decision by Brighton and Hove City Council to withdraw funding for St Patrick's night shelter incomprehensibly callous.
The shelter should be congratulated for accepting people wherever they come from.
If someone is hungry or homeless, does it matter whether they are from Brighton or Liverpool?
Is the mania with immigration control now going to extend to building walls around Brighton and Hove? There are no barriers to the rich buying second homes in the city but if those who come looking for work are left homeless, the council decrees they can't be fed or sheltered.
St Patrick's is indispensable. Without it, there will be nowhere for local homeless people to go.
I hope our well-fed councillors don't let the plight of the poor interfere with the enjoyment of their Christmas dinners.
