Security staff at Brighton Marina are among the first in Britain to complete a new surveillance course.
The CCTV and Public Space Surveillance course is recognised as one of the toughest training courses run by the official industry body, the Security Industry Authority.
The team at the marina passed with flying colours to achieve one of only three licences granted in the country.
Security officers will have to possess a licence under new legal regulations coming into force in March next year. The marina's team stepped up to the challenge early.
Colin Tribe, security manager for Brighton Marina, said: "On a busy weekend, we can be dealing with 7,000 visitors and more than 3,000 cars in our car parks and it's a challenge we take very seriously."
