Frank Gehry's words are as out of touch with the British planning and political system as is his King Alfred scheme is with the local environment (The Argus, November 15).
He is quoted as saying: "It's up to the community. It's their choice" whether his design is built.
Which community does he mean? There are many communities, geographical communities, communities of interest etc.
Does he mean the residents of Hove? Would that were so and how will they make their choice known?
In practice, Brighton and Hove City Council officers will make a recommendation on whether to grant or refuse permission for the development, which councillors will either accept or reject.
Is that what Gehry means by "the community"?
Gehry has also stated that it would be unfortunate if his towers were to set a precedent for more towers on the seafront. Well, they have already done so - 18 storeys on the Medina House site.
