Jason Dodd admitted today he is fed up with not being able to help Albion in their fight for Championship survival.

Dodd is facing further injury frustration after hurting his back in last week's draw at Cardiff.

It forced the former Southampton servant off just 16 minutes into his comeback after three months on the sidelines and ruled him out of Saturday's home deadlock against Derby.

Dodd, signed on a free transfer in the summer, was Albion's rightback for the first five Championship matches of the season until ankle surgery kept him out from the end of August. "The ankle is fine now but my back went into spasm in the Cardiff game and I am waiting for it to settle down," said the versatile 35-year-old.

"It's a wee bit sore at the moment. When I did it a couple of years ago it took a couple of weeks to settle down.

"I'm just fed up. It's horrible that I cannot contribute. I am not the best at watching anyway so I am very depressed."

Gary Hart will revert to rightback again in Dodd's absence at high-flying Watford on Saturday, with Paul Reid at leftback, after manager Mark McGhee swapped the pair over during the first half of the Derby game.

Meanwhile, McGhee will give a trial to 26-year-old non-League striker Andy Forbes on Dodd's recommendation, once the prolific Eastleigh marksman recovers from a calf injury.

"I've seen him play," Dodd said. "He's sharp and scores goals. It's a big step up from Conference south but we would be silly not to look at him."
