The Hawks boss admits his team have too much to do if they are to catch leaders Ringmer, who won 2-1 at Littlehampton.
But Chapman thoroughly enjoyed the football they served up. He said: "Commitment-wise were were exceptional. The score didn't flatter us.
"We've got no chance of winning the league though. All we can do is keep winning but Ringmer are six or seven points too far in front."
Newman's opening goal was a crisp 20-yarder but KevinTownsend bettered that with a chip from outside the box.

In Conference south, Jamie Cade scored on his debut as Lewes beat Yeading 1-0 but Eastbourne Borough went down by the same score to Thurrock.
