It is now three years since the tragic murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham by the known sex offender, Ian Huntley.
In that time, the Labour Party and Education Minister Ruth Kelly have learnt nothing. The recent disclosure that another known sex offender was allowed to work with children is an insult to every parent in the UK.
What has happened to the Sex Offenders' Register and the records of offenders which were supposed to be kept and disclosed to police forces and education authorities to prevent just such a tragedy happening again?
As a parent herself, how would Kelly react if her own children were being taught by a known sex offender?
She should do the honourable thing and resign now.
