I felt I had to respond to Mr Baron's letter about road closures for football parking (January 12).
There is no way the mayhem which ensued when the Albion closed Carden Avenue, one of the main arteries into Brighton, was a slight inconvenience.
There is a heavy demand on this road which has become busier with the opening of the Next shop on it.
When the road was closed, the traffic backed up on to the bypass and past Old Boat Corner.
Right turns were banned from Asda car park, which is inconvenient for anyone living south of the store. And I can't believe the police are too happy having access to their station obstructed.
The thinly-veiled threat of supporters parking in residents' roads is rich. The football ground shouldn't have been allowed to become established in a residential zone in the first place.
Wasn't the club allowed temporary residence on the promise they would move after a few years? If anyone thinks I am exaggerating, they should visit Carden Avenue on a Saturday afternoon when the road is shut and see for themselves.
