Crawley manager John Hollins has told supporters not to panic.

Reds travel to mid-table Dagenham and Redbridge tonight two points above the Conference relegation places and on the back of two consecutive league defeats.

Worried fans have inundated a supporters' website with talk of relegation but Hollins is more confident than ever that his side will beat the drop.

He said: "The league table doesn't lie, you are in the position you are in because you don't win matches, it's as simple as that.

"But no one should be panicking because there is an awful lot of football to be played and we are improving.

"It was one of our best performances since I've been here against Hereford on Saturday and I don't think we will play like that again and not get at least a point.

"The confidence is still in the side, we just need that little bit of luck and to finish off our chances.

"I'm confident it will come and, hopefully, sooner rather than later."

Midfielder Danny Brown, who scored his first goal for Reds in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Hereford, says fans have to play their part in helping Crawley out of their current predicament.

He said: "We all need to pull together at the moment, including supporters. We need everyone to get behind us.

"The fans who travelled up to Hereford were brilliant and really made a difference to us. We need it to be like that for every game."

Hollins has praised the impact of makeshift striker Chris Giles and says his place up front could become a permanent fixture.

Giles, who is best known as a defender at Crawley, has deputised for the injured Daryl Clare in the last two matches.

He is set to lead the line again tonight as top scorer Clare is again ruled out with a groin strain.

Hollins said: "Chris has done very well up front. He gives us something different and could have had a hat-trick against Hereford.

"His versatility is great when you have injuries. The problem is now he has had a taste, he doesn't want to go back into defence."

Midfielder Simon Wormull faces a fitness test today on a sore back after missing the Hereford defeat.

Dagenham, who have lost just once in their last six league games, have been rocked by reports that top scorer Chris Moore could leave before next week's transfer deadline.

Moore has netted ten goals this season, including a brace in Saturday's 2-1 home win over Tamworth, and a number of clubs are thought to be battling for his signature.

However, the Daggers have been able to keep hold of striker Tresor Kandol, who has turned down a move to Darlington.

Hollins said: "I have seen Dagenham a couple of times and they have some very good players.

"We know it is not going to be easy but that is how I like it. I enjoy playing the teams at the top because no one expects you to win."
