Regarding the letter, "Young thugs deserve to be named and shamed" (January 14), it seems us old fogies are too quick to pass judgement on youngsters and that they deserve to have anti-social behaviour orders (Asbos) slapped on them.
We need to look at the root of why there seems to be such anti-social behaviour these days. When I was a teenager there always seemed to be somewhere to go - be it the local roller rinks, milk bars with jukeboxes or dancehalls.
I know the teens of today would snort at these forms of entertainment but you would think there would be a lot more for them to do socially rather than walking the streets.
I asked my 16-year-old son what he finds to do in this city with his friends.
he replied: "There isn't anything to do at my age."
Perhaps the Government should look at what positive action it could take to prevent anti-social behaviour rather than just naming and shaming.
