The disgrace continues in East Worthing. We still have no post office and no explanation as to why the Lyndhurst Road branch is closed.

Last Friday a concerned group of local people twice successfully stopped Post Office officials stripping the assets of this popular and much-needed branch.

Residents were supported by our MP and three councillors, including Jack Saheid, whose livelihood as the sub-postmaster has been threatened.

Support to keep the post office has been overwhelming - particularly for the service it gives to older and disabled people and local businesses.

There are many questions being asked about why the management gave no notice to the public and offered no alternative service.

for East Worthing.

I spoke to PAs of the chief executive and regional manager and was told it was not my business. Issues could not be discussed with me or anyone else and it was in the hands of the solicitors.

The Post Office is a public service and customers have a right to be treated respectfully.

We should be told what plans, if any, are afoot to provide a local post office.

In the meantime, the management should reopen the Lyndhurst Road branch and use the next three months to resolve any differences with Jack Saheid or explore alternative local venues.
