There seems to be a growing animosity among various parties interested in the proposed community stadium at Falmer.

I am an avid supporter of Brighton and Hove Albion, so I am rather biased. However, I can't see how the building of the stadium will have such a negative impact on Lewes District.

Lewes, the epicentre, thrives on tourism to generate money, which, in turn, protects the town from large companies spoiling its centre. A new stadium will generate a large amount of capital for surrounding areas, which can only be a positive thing.

Brighton and Hove Albion is an asset to Sussex and Lewes, being our county town, has a duty of care to protect the football club.

Brighton and Hove Albion is not just a football club. It serves as a pastime for many thousands of people each year and its community team does a lot to help the disadvantaged.

Should Lewes District Council (LDC) be successful in challenging John Prescott's decision, it would effectively be signing the club's death warrant.

The Falmer site has been earmarked for development and is the best site for the stadium. I would urge LDC to listen to what appears to be the majority of its voters and withdraw its application for a judicial review before it is too late.
