Animal rights activists are planning a second protest against proposed seal and penguin pools.
On Saturday, the campaigners stood at the entrance to the Palace Pier, Brighton, and urged the public to sign a petition against the Sea Life Centre plans. They are staging a similar demonstration tomorrow.
The Green Party voiced concern when proposals to build two pools at the entrance to its aquarium were submitted to Brighton and Hove City Council's planning committee by the Sea Life Centre in Marine Parade.
The pools will initially be used as an enclosure for two seals, bred in captivity, but permission is also being sought to keep penguins in case the centre decides to house them in future.
Animal lovers claim the busy and noisy site is unsuitable to house any animal and are calling the move a retrograde step for animal rights. About 500 people signed the petition to oppose the building of the pools during last Saturday's protest.
