Ross Minter is set to challenge Turgay Uzun for the vacant European Boxing Association welterweight title.

The fight is scheduled for February 25 at the ExCel Arena in London's Docklands.

Minter, 27, was due to make the first defence of his English welterweight title but Uzun, a 31-year-old German-based Turk, has been lined up instead.

Minter said: "The fight has to be confirmed but I am hoping it will happen.

"He represents a step up in class and it will be a challenge but that is what I need.

"He has had 20 fights, won 15 of them and 12 have been by stoppages. He's a tough fighter."

Minter, from Crawley, son of former undisputed middleweight king Alan, is also set to make history when he meets the German welterweight champion He said: "The title is quite new and is the World Boxing Association's version of a European title. I will be the first British fighter to box for it."

Matt Skelton's clash with Danny Williams for the Commonwealth heavyweight crown tops the bill.
