I have always understood the first comprehensive school was started on the island of Anglesey, in Wales, because, being populated by close farming families, parents did not want their children separated into the "sheep and the goats".

If the proposed compromise Education Bill has been reported accurately, we shall have private schools, faith schools, non-faith trust schools and community schools.

If a country were starting off from scratch, what kind of educational system would it set up? Certainly not the kind of dog's dinner which is being suggested.
