I didn't realise it until now but the music industry has had me on a diet.

My live music consumption over the past year has been boringly low fat, unsalted and preservative free.

But my under-nourishment is over thanks to the sugar-loaded, additive-packed Go! Team. Making every other live band feel like half the calories and half the fun, this super-charged sixpiece are fuelled by the hyperactive rush of a thousand Smarties.

Hitting the stage like a bohemian cheerleading squad, they bounced endlessly as their team spirit brewed feverishly into a storm of boyish indie, classic hip-hop, disco, soul and samples galore.

Two drummers hammered away as instruments such as recorders and glockenspiels added to their kooky playground charm.

Performing under the glare of a giant projection, band members became human screens for everything from cartoon faces to kittens.

Although created in the bedroom of Brighton producer Ian Parton, tracks such as Panther Dash, Huddle Formation, The Power Is On, and, of course, the triumphant Ladyflash have an enormity which explodes when performed live.

Fans of Thunder, Lightning, Strike were served up a generous helping of album tracks plus new ones such as The Wrath Of Mikey, Titanic Vandalism and the astonishing instrumental Ice Storm.

But the hundreds and thousands on top of The Go! Team's cake is their rocket-powered frontwoman Ninja who makes sure the band earn their exclamation mark.
