Terrance McGee today urged high-scoring Genesis Brighton Bears to keep enjoying their basketball all the way to the BBL play-offs.

McGee led the way with 29 points as Bears ended a shaky run with this comfortable win at the Triangle, their first in four home games.

Bears have been suffering defeats at home, away and in the BBL committee room of late.

But a week of rest and practice worked wonders as they claimed a reassuringly drama-free win over a Plymouth team who, until Saturday, were the league's form outfit of 2006.

Bears blew the game open with an early 10-0 run in which McGee scored two points and had three assists, including a lovely behind-the-back pass to Jerry Williams on a fast break.

A glance at the remaining fixtures, starting at home to troubled Leicester next Sunday, suggests Bears could still finish the season with 20 league wins.

Point guard McGee is willing to look a bit further than that.

He said: "Any team has to re-focus after every game they lose and get back on the same page.

"I don't set any targets in terms of position, just to finish as high as we can.

"But we're focusing on the last 12 or 13 games and trying to go as close to losing zero as possible.

"We were able to get a little rest in the week and we got a chance to prepare more for the next team coming in.

"We just took our time in preparation for the game, everybody was recuperated, refreshed and ready to come back out and play."

Bears have added Danny Midgley to their back court and will do their cause a lot of good if they complete the signing of a big man, possibly Jason Siemon, before tomorrow's deadline.

Bears have been on the brink of good things for weeks and on Saturday their ball movement was fun to watch.

They only had to take eight three-point shots, most of which were good open looks.

Four of the eight went in, including one from McGee, nicely cocooned behind an Andrew Alleyne screen, to open a 47-31 lead on the half-time buzzer.

Alleyne looked back to his old self as he picked up 18 points and 13 rebounds, Williams had another 20-point night and Steve Parillon was at his productive best.

Parillon hit Plymouth with a heart-breaking three-pointer late in the shot clock after they got back to 65-54 early in the fourth quarter.

He went eight-for-12 from the field and converted both his free throws.

With four starters capable of hitting 20 points and Daniel Hildreth offering defensive energy, Bears play with infectious enjoyment at times.

McGee, who hit three threes from five attempts, added: "I enjoy every win.

"Everybody was relaxed, we played together well, looking for each other. That was good."

By contrast, Raiders' former Worthing captain Gaylon Moore had a horrible return to Sussex, missing 13 of his 15 shots and failing to get to the free throw line.

Talented Andrew Lasker ran into foul trouble and DeAntoine Beasley was out injured, leaving guard Gavin Love and man mountain Carlton Aaron to lead the challenge.

Aaron came off the bench for another big double-double but, when his shot was blocked by Alleyne with five minutes remaining, the contest was almost over.

McGee scored from the next possession and Raiders never got back within single figures.
