Buying fair trade products should become "a habit", according to a Sussex council.
Working in partnership with the Brighton and Hove Fairtrade steering group, Burgess Hill Town Council is trying to persuade shoppers to buy items that can make a real difference to poverty in the developing world.
An exhibit describing the benefit to emerging nations of Fairtrade products was put on display in the town's Martletts Hall. The council is also giving shoppers the opportunity to voice their own opinions on the issue in a debate at the Brighthelm Centre, North Road, Brighton, tomorrow at 7.30pm.
Speakers will include Harriet Lamb, Director of the Fairtrade Foundation.
