Bognor's poor run in Conference south stretched to ten games without a win as they went down 1-0 at home to Weston-super-Mare.

In an open game, both sides had chances in a lively first half.

On 21 minutes Ben Watson found Luke Nightingale at the far post and although he guided his header back across goal it rebounded back off the wordwork and the follow-up from Darren Budd was hacked clear.

At the other end Marvin Brown found space in behind the Bognor defence and although he was forced wide by keeper Craig Stoner he managed to squeeze in his cross only for John Williams to lift his effort over the top from six yards out when he should have done better.

David Piper then found Nightingale with a right wing cross but his header was well saved by Ryan Northmore.

Just before the break Williams raced in behind the Bognor rearguard, held off his marker, turned and rattled an effort against an upright.

Bognor thought they had taken the lead four minutes into the second half when Dan Beck diverted a Watson cross into the back of the net only for the effort to be ruled out for handball.

To make matters worse two minutes later a poor clearance from Stoner was duly despatched back over the head of the keeper and into the empty net by Brown.
