When New York PR queen Undine discovers her Argentinian husband has run off, leaving her pregnant and penniless, she is forced to face some painful home truths.

Formerly an Ab Fab-style mover and shaker, she rapidly discovers her friends are the fair weather variety and her storm of a predicament has blown them clean away.

With the knowledge her marriage is a sham and her friends are frauds, Undine begins to realise her own life is based on lies, the biggest of which involves the Brooklyn family she must now return to.

The reunion is not a happy one. We learn that in her pursuit of the African-American nouveau riche dream, Undine has not only changed her name but also told a journalist her family had died in a fire.

As Undine hits rock bottom, discovering her "diabetic" gran is actually injecting heroin, getting arrested and being forced into counselling, her re-education begins.

Fabulation is a piece of theatrical dynamite. The plot crackles, the characters intrigue and although the play tackles some heavy issues, it still manages to be explosively funny.

Kemp Town actress Jenny Jules plays Undine with a blend of comic brilliance and utterly convincing emotional distress. She can win big laughs with almost farcical tango scenes, then silence the audience with a subtle flash of rage. Brilliant performances from a talented cast and a powerful script ensure we are right by Undine's side as she journeys through her own prejudices towards a life as a better person.

Having scored rave reviews from London's top theatre critics, this is one of the hottest tickets in town. Don't miss it.
