I am responding to the letter (March 13) from Avril Curtis regarding the refusal by Tesco to accommodate the food collection box for Celia Hammond's Animal Trust.

We run the Lewes, Seaford and District Cats Protection and had a food collection box in Safeway in Lewes for about 15 years.

The supermarket was taken over by Morrisons and then last year sold to Waitrose, who now refuse to have our bin in their shop.

It seems they are only interested in making huge amounts of money and, although they claim to wish to help the environment and the population, are not interested in helping charities such as Celia Hammond's and ours in helping to care for unwanted animals.
