Like Maureen James (Letters, March 7), for me a library needs only to be a room full of books, nothing flashy, just peace, dust and the odd person nodding off in the reference section.

However, we are a minority, which is why all these intrusive groups and events are run.

It's an attempt to pull in the crowds and hope they take out a book or two. Baby Boogie is only half an hour once a month, the lady who presents it is superb and maybe it brings some mums into the library.

If only more people loved books for being books, though.
