Everybody who handles poultry on a commercial basis, not just the farmers, should compile a register of all visitors who frequent their farms.
So should the slaughter factories, listing all staff involved as well as their addresses.
This register can be used if an outbreak occurs. The vaccine can be given to everyone closely involved in that area and further afield if the address given is outside the quarantine area.
If the Government wants to sit on their hands and wait for an outbreak to occur before vaccinating those involved with poultry, this register would be invaluable in helping to isolate the disease as comprehensively and as quickly as possible.
If the register is not compiled, there will be those who are overlooked and a containment will become impossible.
