The human rights lobby is prominent in defending criminals from being returned to their country of origin on the grounds their lives may be in danger.

Will these defenders of human rights come to the aid of the elderly and infirm residents of Osborne House, Hastings, who are being turned out of the only home they have known for up to 50 years (The Argus, May 17)?

Listed in the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms is the right to - "life, liberty and security of person. Respect for private and family life and freedom from torture, inhuman and degrading treatment".

It is not an exaggeration to say it would be inhuman to split up this family and could result in death for some of these vulnerable people.

Incidentally, in Chambers minidictionary, the word "trust" is defined as "a valuable handed over to someone in the belief they will do it, guard it etc".

I suggest the Health Trust in question changes its title to something in keeping with its inhuman actions towards people in their care.
