Bumbling on stage dressed in show tuxedo, the wrong hat and fuelled by his doctor's "special" medicine, Count Arthur Strong's latest attempt to capture the hearts, minds and wallets of the common man takes the form of a musical biopic.

Of course, anyone expecting actual singing and dancing is going to be bitterly disappointed as we're regularly taken off on whopping great tangents, from the Count's home-made piccalilli (just as good as anything Paul Newman can do) to the stupidity of whippets.

In fact, aside from an astonishingly funny mirror skit and a cover of the Minder theme tune, music is very firmly off the agenda - but then it's the incoherence, calamity and downright unprofessionalism which makes the Count such an unparalleled joy.

Ably supported by Dave Mounfield - looking remarkably like Antony Hegarty in a black wig - Stephen Delaney's comedy vehicle is let down somewhat by a rather shambolic final 20 minutes which could do with a bit of judicious pruning in time for the next soldout show tonight - but when it hits the mark, it's quite simply perfect.
