Tim Linley could make his one-day debut for Sussex this weekend.

The 24-year-old seamer is in a 13 man squad for back-to-back games in the C&G Trophy.

And cricket manager Mark Robinson, mindful of the busy schedule facing his players over the next few weeks, admits Linley could get his chance on Monday against Somerset at Horsham (10.45).

All-rounder Sean Heather is also added to the 11 who have given Sussex an unbeaten start in their first three games in the south conference. They go to Chelmsford tomorrow to tackle leaders Essex (10.45).

Victories would make Sussex favourites to reach the final at Lord's on August 21.

Linley, who is in his first season on the staff, impressed against Sri Lanka when he made his debut last week. He only took one wicket but conceded just 56 runs in 27 overs.

It's the sort of performance which used to make Robinson himself such an important cog in the Sussex wheel.

Robinson said: "One or two people are calling him the new Robbo, which is nice for him!

"I thought Tim did well against Sri Lanka. He's got a nice, repeatable action and he doesn't get fazed, he just gets on with his job.

"We've got back-to-back games and don't want to get caught short with our bowlers. One or two have little niggles and if they were to flare up then it makes sense to have players on tap.

"As for Sean, he gives us good options. He's the type of player who can come in and score straight away and he's the best fielder in the club."

Off-spinner Ollie Rayner has dropped out of the squad because he has a sore spinning finger.
