So Bill Williams wonders what gays and lesbians take pride in.

Well, funnily enough, the same things he does family, achievements and some, I am sure, in fighting for their country. We are the same as everybody else and have as many things to be proud of.

To help him understand the concept of Pride, perhaps he needs to realise the UK is no longer the bigoted, narrow place it once was.

Now, gay people can celebrate the achievement of being treated equally and fairly, not pilloried, abused and imprisoned as they once were although, as he well knows, many nations still find it okay to do this and, indeed, LGBT people still risk attack even here in Brighton.

I wonder if Mr Williams thinks that is something to take pride in?

From his final comments I think I know the answer to that.
