Caroline Lucas today said she would rather Labour formed a coalition with the Liberal Democrats than the Tories.
But she added she would not want to take the whip from any alliance which formed, saying she would instead decide how to vote on a "case by case" basis.
Speaking to Sky News this afternoon, she said that as a left-wing party, the Greens have more in common with Labour.
But she added: "I wouldn't agree with it being called a progressive alliance. What we want to do is look at things with a case by case basis."
