A killer dog which police say should be put down has been looked after in kennels for four weeks.
Despite police deciding that the vicious dog that savaged Crawley toddler Zumer Ahmed should be put to sleep, it is still alive a month after her death.
Sussex Police has been paying to keep the American bulldog called Game in a private kennel.
The dog belonged to one-year-old Zumer's uncle, Urfan, and was being kept in an outdoor kennel at the family's home in Cotton Walk, Broadfield, Crawley, when the baby was attacked.
Game and another dog owned by the toddler's uncle were removed from the family home by police after the attack and taken to private kennels.
Keeping the dogs has cost the police force more than £700 already.
After Zumer's death police said the dog, which was not an illegal breed, would be destroyed.
Urfan Ahmed, 32, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and questioned, before being released on bail until July 15.
Zumer's father Nazir, 36, told The Argus he had forgiven his brother for the terrible attack.
