A grumpy children’s character has been brought to life by a metal worker.

Jon Mills, who has created large public artworks across the country, came up with the character of grumpy Mr Watt, who lives in a metal world and makes metal things that always go wrong.

He created scenes out of metal, which he photographed and made into six books, put together into box sets.

His creations are on show at 32 Stanford Avenue, Fiveways, Brighton, as part of Artists Open Houses.

Brighton-based Mr Mills said: “This is something I have been working on in my spare time for the last couple of years.

“It has been a change of scale, as I am not working on bridges and massive gates.”

Mr Mills has produced 1,000 box sets of the books and is now looking for a publisher.
