This former fire engine used to travel with sirens blaring but now it's in the business of styling sirens.
Sarah-Jane Haffrey Davis has converted the vehicle into a mobile hair salon and believes it is the only one of its kind.
It used to belong to her brother Clayton, who died in a car accident aged just 32.
He was an avid collector of unusual vehicles and, when the time came to auction them off, Sarah-Jane bought the fire engine for £450.
Sarah-Jane, 36, who owns SJ Hair Design in Heathfield, said: “I just couldn't let anyone else have it. It had so much sentimental value.
“At first I was going to turn it into a motor home because that's what Clayton had started to do.
“He was a mechanic and he liked a challenge. He also had an APC (armoured personnel carrier) and loads of Land Rovers.
“I think he wanted to sell them eventually but would forget to do it.”
With the help of her father John Haffrey, Sarah-Jane spent three months converting the vehicle.
As well as three hair dressing chairs and wash basin, the fire engine has a kitchen area, toilet and shower facilities and can sleep three people.
Sarah-Jane plans to tour music festivals as well as offer it to people in the fashion industry for location shoots.
The mobile salon will get its first run-out at a fashion show in Heathfield on May 20 before Sarah-Jane takes it to the Laughton Show at the end of the month.
