Some time ago I bought an old copy of What Katy Did from a charity shop. Inside is a bookplate from the Brighton and Preston School Board, saying the book was awarded to Amy Akehurst as a reward for regular attendance and good conduct. The date is July 1891 and it is signed by E Jenkins, Mistress of Circus Street School.
Does this name mean anything to anyone? I’d be very interested to know about this book’s history. Please call 07721 864069.
