A drunken couple had a lucky escape after they fell asleep and left their oven on.
Firefighters had to break in to the property in Upper Lewes Road in Brighton at around 4am this morning to put out the fire.
It took around twenty minutes to wake the inebriated pair who were in their mid-twenties and had been attempting to cook late-night Yorkshire puddings.
A firefighter at Preston Circus fire station said: “The pair had a lucky escape but it just goes to highlight the dangers of cooking while under the influence of alcohol.”
