In response to a letter entitled “Nice photography that spoils the view” from Matt Russell, (Letters, May 10), I would like to say that I couldn’t disagree more with the views expressed concerning the Wild Planet shop and photographs that are situated along part of the upper promenade on Brighton seafront.

The photographs are nice, not to mention educational, and the stands they are mounted in do not look at all unsightly even if they don’t have anything to do with Brighton itself. I could make the same complaint about a blue metal structure depicting people kissing which stands just by the groyne near the Palace Pier. What has that got to do with Brighton and why is it there?

As for the photo stands spoiling the view of the piers (and may I add we only really have one pier now), that is complete and utter nonsense. There are plenty of other places to stand for a good view.

Well done Brighton and Hove City Council for allowing this display to be placed where it is along the seafront.
