Influential leaders have pledged to create a “city of opportunities”.

The vow came as private and public sector bosses revealed a new three year vision for Brighton and Hove.

The statement of intent, produced by the Brighton and Hove Strategic Partnership, is designed to outline the future development of the city to its 250,000 residents.

Roger French, chairman of the partnership, said: “The vision is for Brighton and Hove to be city of opportunity.

“It is a city where opportunities are provided for our residents to improve their lives, for our children to excel and a place for business to thrive.

“It is a place that provides these opportunities in a sustainable and inclusive way that reduces inequality and protects the environment.”

The strategic partnership is made up of business leaders, councillors and leading figures from the public sector.

This includes Brighton and Hove City Council, Sussex Police, the NHS and Environment Agency.

The latest document, which was promoted at the Hilton Brighton Metropole yesterday, updates the last pledge which was made in 2007.
