I would like to say how overwhelmed I was at the kind, generous help I received from the EasyJet staff at Malaga Airport when my friend and I checked in on April 15 to find all flights were cancelled, owing to the Icelandic volcano eruption.

Our ages are 76 and 81 respectively and this caused great anxiety, as you can imagine. We were put at our ease immediately and told that EasyJet would take care of our situation and that we had no cause to worry.

We were given another check-in date and guided to the airport door where a coach awaited us. We were driven to a three-star hotel where we were provided with full board.

Upon checking in at the airport for the second time after four days, we were again taken to a coach and this time driven to a four-star hotel with full board on the Torremolinos seafront, where we stayed for a further six days. This was all at EasyJet’s expense.

We began to realise just how fortunate we were when we met scores of British people who were paying their own hotel bill, some of whom had run out of money and were on their way to the British Embassy for assistance.

Some airlines took over the cost of accommodation for their clients later, when they realised they were breaking European law, but this was too late for many people, who had resorted, with young children, to facing a very long coach journey to the Channel ports.

If given a choice, my friend and I will always travel with EasyJet in the future and will always remember their kindness.
