The Brighton Queen, built in 1905, was the second paddle steamer to bear that name. She had previously been called Gwalia, and Lady Moyra after a director of the company owning her.
Built in 1905, she survived service in the First World War before being less lucky in 1940. She made one successful visit to Dunkirk but was bombed by the Germans on the return voyage with severe loss of life.
Starting in the Bristol Channel, she eventually moved to the South Coast and frequently tied up at the West Pier.
