Firefighters were called after a car flipped onto its roof and hit the central reservation.
The crash happened on the A27 at Hollingbury at about 2pm on Sunday.
Fire and ambulance crews arrived shortly after.
A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue said: “The car flipped on its roof full of people. Everyone got out before the fire service arrived.”
No one is thought to have been seriously injured in the crash which police say did not involve another vehicle.
