Two passengers were taken to hospital after the car they were travelling in crashed into a lamp post.
The Hyundai Coupe collided with a lamp post on the pavement before coming to a stop in woods while travelling northbound on the A23 London Road, Brighton, at the junction with Surrenden Road.
A 17-year-old girl from County Durham received serious injuries and a 25-year-old Brighton man received slight injuries. They were both taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital following the incident at 1.05am on Sunday.
Sussex Police would like to hear from any witnesses and particularly from the driver of a dark coloured car, possibly a taxi, which was seen to stop at the time.
Anyone with any information should contact Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.
