Three motorbikes were set alight by arsonists within a matter of hours.

Firefighters were called to Pelham Square in Brighton about 2am this morning.

A scooter in a parking bay surrounding the grassy area was set alight.

The fire spread and severely damaged two nearby cars.

All three vehicles are believed to be write-offs.

It followed two similar incidents in the city only hours previous.

Crew members from Roedean station were called to land near Brighton racecourse about 11.30pm yesterday to deal with a motorcycle alight.

Both fires were extinguished within 15 minutes.
