With regards the planned Tescofication of the Providence in Western Road, Hove, (The Argus, June 24), I wonder, how will deliveries be made?

The pavement outside, until last year, supported two raised-kerb bus-stops and benches and a telephone box. The telephone box has now been decommissioned and one of the bus-stops has been amalgamated with the other for no apparent reason. Also, the remaining stop is far too close to the junction for safety. If they had been combined the other way round, I could perhaps understand it. The sliding windows at the front of the Providence remain shut due to noise issues with neighbours. Will Tesco be so considerate when they take over? Can we expect the inconvenience of an articulated lorry parked in Western Road causing a bottle-neck and disrupting busses as the side roads are unsuitable? Will the pavement become extra storage for wheeled pallets and waste bags? Bearing in mind that there is a nursery in this building, will there be a no-stopping (except for buses) zone outside and will it be enforced?

Will the kerbs be lowered again at public expense and will the kerb stones be re-used within the town? Will Tesco even listen or care about the impact of its proposals? In my experience these local convenience stores only contribute to the locale with the problems they bring. Good luck to residents.
